3. Add Form 8857

Once finished, to add the form, click on Help in the top section, enter 8857, and click on Add Form. There are three total forms; you will need to do this for all three and fill them in based on your specific situation.

4. Tax Day

Complete all the forms and save each; the Form 8857 will be e-filed with your Tax Return, due Tax Day or by the October e-file deadline.

The form will be added to your return as you complete information and it will be e-filed via your eFile account with your return. If you just need to complete this one form, you can also complete and sign Form 8857 separately and mail it in.

Once completed, send your completed Form 8857, Request for Innocent Spouse Relief, to one of the following addresses.
